School districts are bureaucracies, and like any
other bureaucracy, you and/or your child can
get lost in the system. It is important that you be
able to advocate for your child, and this program
can provide you with the necessary information
to be successful in doing so.
GFBC Education Committee
Education Advocacy
Go to the school early and often, oversee homework and grades.

Visit the school and sit in class and monitor attendance.

Mind your P’s and Q’s: problems, parental role, plan for success, pupil
participation, quality, question and quest.
On October 2, Education Advocacy hosted a workshop for parents to
learn how to best advocate for their children. Four school counselors
volunteered to be panel experts, answering parents' questions
concerning the counselor's role at school.  This was a great event, and
parents are encouraged to directly speak with your child's counselor,
teachers, and principal to understand your child's placement in the
school system and how you can best equip them for a fulfilling
educational journey.
