SAT Facts
  • The SAT is required for admission to most U.S. colleges. It’s often used
    to award scholarships and grants.

  • It is best to start prepping for the SAT at least 8 weeks before the test.

  • You CAN take the SAT more than once, though you should not take it
too many times because ALL of your scores are reported to colleges.

  • The new SAT test lasts 3 hours and 45 minutes. There are 3 sections
in Critical Reading, 3 in  Math, 3 in Writing, and 1 is Experimental.

  • The new SAT is scored differently than the old SAT! There are 3
scores in the new SAT: Critical Reading, Writing, and Math. Each is
scored on a scale of 200-800 for a total possible score of 2400.

  • The grammar questions and the essay are combined in the new SAT to
    compute a total “Writing” score.

  • A score of 500 in each section is “average” and yields a total score of
    1500.

  • A score of 1800 is the “competitive” score now.
